After I accidentally hit my elbow against the wall, I dismissed it as nothing. My elbow wasn't convinced and continued to hurt as it's been conditioned to behave that way, but I ignored the pain and the pain got the message and dissolved into nothing.
The other day while I was waiting at a bus stop there were some engineers drilling into the pavement causing lots of dust. Two elderly-looking women winced, covered their ears and waved their arms about to clear the dust. Both looked at me and raised their eyes. I knew what they were "inviting" me to find the "noise" and "dust" uncomfortable. I couldn't as the "noise" and "dust" meant nothing to me.
It's all nothing until I make it into something.
